Indian warships have successfully conducted a series of anti-ship missile exercises, further establishing their preparedness for long-range precision attacks, officials said on Sunday.
The exercises were being conducted amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, after the horrific Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, in which 26 people were killed, including predominantly tourists.
As reported by PTI, various Indian Navy vessels performed the exercises to reinforce yet again the operational readiness of their platforms as also personnel for offensive action in longer ranges.
An Indian Navy spokesperson asserted that the exercises were the need of the hour in the context of existing operational readiness. Drills allowed the Navy to test if the systems and platforms were working at optimal levels and were completely capable of performing their jobs with maximum effectiveness.
"Indian warships were able to undertake repeated anti-ship firings to reestablish and authenticate operational capability of personnel, systems, and platforms for precision strikes from long ranges," the official explained. The drills, which included a series of tough tests, reiterated the Navy's ability to launch precision-targeted attacks if the need arises. The fact that the drills were successfully conducted is a testament to the sophisticated capabilities of India's naval forces and their capacity to protect the nation's maritime interests in any circumstance.
The Indian Navy has gone on to work relentlessly to enhance its strengths in order to ensure the protection of the country's maritime borders. The official also reiterated, "The Indian Navy is combat-ready, credible, and future-ready in securing the country's maritime interests, anytime, anywhere, and under any circumstances."
These firing exercises were taking place when relations between India and Pakistan have been escalating, especially after the terror strike at Pahalgam that killed a few people. Anti-terror operations in the region have been enhanced by security personnel in Kashmir.
"On 26-27 April 2025 night, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms firing on Line of Control in sectors opposite Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. The Indian Army reacted in good time and with efficiency to the Pakistan Army firing along the LoC," officials asserted.
In a coordinated crackdown, Kulgam Police, along with Army and CRPF, arrested two terror associates in south Kashmir's Kulgam district and seized an enormous quantity of weapons and ammunition.
